Tiger TalkPrincipal UpdateJanuary 23, 2026 Dear Carnation Families, It was a short but busy week at Carnation! Many classes wrapped up i-Ready testing, and our students also took part in our MLK Jr. Peace Walk as we honored the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. As a reminder, this is a three-day weekend. There is no school on Monday, January 26th due to a teacher professional learning day. Our K–2 teachers will be collaborating with colleagues from across the district in Professional Learning Community work focused on essential learning standards. Teachers in grades 3–5 will be engaged in ongoing training with our newly adopted literacy curriculum, Benchmark. If you have not already received yours, ballots should be arriving any day. Riverview School District has three local school funding measures on the ballot for consideration. We encourage all eligible voters to take time to review the measures and remember to vote by February 10th. More information can be found below. Have a wonderful weekend and go Seahawks! Upcoming School Funding MeasuresIn the February election, Riverview School District will ask the community to consider three local school funding measures. These measures are designed to continue funding for programs and services currently in place and to address long-term facility needs. Two of the measures are levy renewals that replace levies set to expire in 2026. The third measure is a Capital bond. Together, they support students, staff, and school facilities across the district. More information is available on the website. Questions may be sent to bondandlevy@rsd407.org

MLK Jr. Peace WalkOn Wednesday afternoon, our Carnation Tigers came together for our annual MLK Jr. Peace Walk in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Students created signs reflecting Dr. King’s message and participated in a walk around our greater campus before ending together with a song led by our choir on the playground. Thank you to the families who were able to join us and to our students and staff for making this a meaningful moment of reflection, unity, and community.
5th Graders Visit Cedarcrest for Future Red Wolves Music DayOn Thursday, 5th grade students from across Riverview School District had the opportunity to visit Cedarcrest High School for Future Red Wolves Music Day. Students learned more about the music programs available at the high school level and got a firsthand glimpse of what their future in music could look like. This experience was a collaborative effort among music teachers across RSD and is designed to build excitement and familiarity with secondary music opportunities. Paired with last week’s Tolt Middle School music tour, these experiences represent an important first step in helping students envision their musical journey as they begin to think about registering for classes at the middle school level.
